International pet travel from Abu Dhabi

Relocating with your pet requires the right documentation in the right order β€” get one detail wrong and your pet doesn't fly. We've been guiding Abu Dhabi families through this process for decades.

Four steps from here to there

Every destination has slightly different requirements. Some countries (like the UK and EU) require months of advance planning; others can be done in weeks. The earlier you contact us, the smoother the process.

01

Book a consultation

Contact us with your destination country and approximate travel date. We'll tell you exactly what's required β€” vaccinations, blood tests, microchip standards, timing.

02

Health examination

Dr. Faisal performs a full physical exam and reviews your pet's vaccination history and microchip records to confirm everything meets destination requirements.

03

Certificate issued

An official health certificate is issued on clinic letterhead, formatted to your destination country's specific requirements β€” including the right tests, dates, and vet signatures.

04

MOCCAE endorsement

We guide you through the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment endorsement process required by most international destinations. You handle the visit; we prepare the paperwork.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I contact you?
For most destinations, six to eight weeks before departure is comfortable. For the UK and EU, where a rabies titre test is required and has minimum waiting periods, you should be planning at least three to six months in advance. Australia and New Zealand have the strictest requirements and need even more planning.
Do you handle cats, dogs, and exotic pets?
Yes. We issue travel certificates for cats and dogs routinely, and we have experience with exotic species too β€” birds, reptiles, and small mammals. Some species have strict export restrictions in the UAE; we'll be honest with you about whether travel is feasible.
What is MOCCAE endorsement and do I need it?
MOCCAE is the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. Most international destinations require the health certificate to be endorsed by MOCCAE before the pet can leave the UAE. You'll need to visit a MOCCAE office in person β€” we prepare the paperwork so it's accepted first time.
Can you organise the actual transport?
We don't run a pet shipping service ourselves, but we work alongside several reputable UAE pet relocation companies. We can recommend specific firms based on your destination and budget.
What if my pet's microchip isn't ISO-standard?
Many destinations (UK, EU, Australia) require ISO 11784/11785 compliant microchips. If your pet has an older or non-ISO chip, we can implant a new ISO chip β€” but the order matters: the ISO chip must be in before the rabies vaccination for that vaccination to count. This is the kind of detail we catch and most clients don't know about.

One detail that catches people out: the rabies vaccination must be given after the microchip is implanted for most destinations. If the chip went in afterwards, the vaccination doesn't count and has to be redone. We see this every month β€” contact us early and we'll avoid it.
