Annual wellness exams in Abu Dhabi

A 15-minute check-up that can add years to your pet's life. Dr. Faisal performs a thorough head-to-tail examination, picking up problems years before they become serious.

Why annual exams matter

Pets age roughly seven times faster than people. A year between check-ups for your dog or cat is the equivalent of you not seeing a doctor for seven years. Many conditions β€” kidney disease, heart problems, dental disease, early-stage cancers β€” develop silently and respond much better to early treatment.

An annual wellness exam isn't just a formality. It's the single most cost-effective thing you can do for your pet's long-term health.

What's included

  • Physical examination β€” head, ears, eyes, mouth, teeth, lymph nodes, abdomen, joints, skin and coat
  • Heart and lung check with stethoscope
  • Weight and body condition score β€” obesity is a major risk factor in UAE pets
  • Vaccination review β€” confirming your pet's schedule is up to date
  • Parasite check β€” fleas, ticks, internal parasites
  • Dental assessment β€” gum health, tartar, broken teeth
  • Behavioural review β€” appetite, energy, toileting changes that may indicate problems
  • Personalised advice β€” diet, exercise, and care recommendations specific to your pet

How often should my pet be examined?

For most healthy adult cats and dogs: once a year. For puppies and kittens: every 3-4 weeks until vaccination courses are complete. For senior pets (over 7-8 years for dogs, 10+ for cats): every six months, since age-related conditions can develop quickly.

What to bring

  • Any previous medical records or vaccination certificates you have
  • A list of any medications, supplements, or special diets your pet is on
  • Notes on any behavioural changes you've noticed (even minor ones)
  • For cats: a sturdy carrier they can't escape from
  • For dogs: a lead, plus any items they associate with comfort

New to the clinic? If you don't have previous records, don't worry β€” we can work from scratch. The wellness exam is the perfect first appointment to get to know your pet and establish baseline health markers.
